Building Communities of Learners and Leaders

On October 3^rd, business leaders and friends of OpenWorld Learning joined together at The University of Denver Cable Center to celebrate the 2007 success of growing to 15 sites. The event would not have been possible without the support of Presenting Sponsor RTL Networks and VIP Reception Sponsor IHS. Over $45,000 was raised to help OpenWorld Learning continue to build communities of learners and leaders. The stars of this celebration were OpenWorld Learning Student Leaders Isela and Oscar who shared an impressive MicroWorlds presentation illustrating current and future expansion. Student Leaders Jorge, Mitzi and Bruce shared their projects as well. Guests were powerfully engaged by key-note speakers The Honorable Federico Peña and DPS Superintendent, Michael Bennet. Michael Bennet said, "I would like to see OpenWorld Learning in every Denver Public School. We are grateful for the support of Colorado business and community leaders in "turning the lights on" in DPS computer labs during after-school and summer hours."
