Get Involved
Today’s youth are surrounded by constant obstacles and challenges. At OpenWorld Learning, we strive to impact their school success by promoting the tools of tomorrow and teaching valuable life skills. We want our students to embrace a lifetime love of learning, and to do so we want to introduce them to all that is possible through education, commitment and leadership. As an OpenWorld Learning volunteer, you can impact students’ lives and lead by example. Please consider one or more of the following opportunities to get involved today!

INVENTORS

Impact disadvantaged elementary school students by participating in a full day of our program, where you will:

• Lead and perform a team energizer that promotes physical activity and problem solving (select from 5 options)
• Spend 30 minutes helping students with their homework
• Learn computer programming as our elementary school student leaders demonstrate their projects and interactively teach you the core components that allow you to create, invent and design in MicroWorlds.

Involvement can be one time or as often as bi-monthly, and may include up to 10 members of your organization.

DISCOVERY

Make a difference for underserved middle school students by interactively sharing your career experiences, including:

• Students research your organization, specific career title and industry in advance of your visit
• You lead an hour hands-on discussion of your job, allowing students to experience a day in your life (our program staff is available to facilitate student-friendly exercises to correspond with your career field)
• OpenWorld Learning staff will lead a 30 minute debrief following your presentation to examine your career field in context with monthly themes in leadership and future opportunities

Involvement can be one time or bi-annually, and may include up to 10 members of your organization.
